St Moritz winter snowshoe walking and winter hiking holiday for individuals
This seven-night winter snowshoe walking and winter hiking holiday features a stay in winter in the glamorous, metropolitan winter resort of St Moritz in the Swiss canton of the Grisons. The resort sits in a valley by a lake and is surrounded by high mountain peaks. St Moritz has hosted two winter Olympics but its original claim to fame came from its rich mineral springs, discovered 3,000 years ago. From St Moritz you can enjoy a choice of marked snowshoe walks, several winter hikes nearby and also cross-country skiing from beginner’s level upwards. If you want to relax and just enjoy the views for half a day in between the snowshoe walking, hiking and cross-country skiing, there are cable-cars and funiculars that will take you to some of the memorable mountain peaks all around: Corvatsch 3303, known as the ‘big raven’ by the Rhaetians, Diavolezza/Lagalb, Muottas Muragl and Corviglia. There are delightful mountain restaurants and local as well as international shops in the town. Your journey here can be undertaken by air to Zurich and then by train, or also by train all the way from London to St Moritz in one day.
Highlights

Just before reaching Filisur, the train track crosses the famous Landwasser Viaduct. If travelling from the UK by rail, you leave London on a morning Eurostar to Paris at around 8am. Take a local taxi from Gare du Nord to Gare de Lyon and catch the afternoon TGV-Lyria service to Zurich and Chur where you change. Arrive in St Moritz, at 1822m above sea level, and check-in to your hotel.

A map is provided and available in most hotels, at the ski lift points and on-line. Here is a summary of the snowshoe walks. Details of the different snowshoe trails can be seen on the Programme tab.
